Danish fact of the week: Danish people love to sing

This week was mega fun

Monday was spent doing normal PDay activities, such as cleaning, buying groceries, emailing, and practicing for a musical number.  A very normal day that was still quite amusing.

Tuesday: Due to the fact that transfers are technically suposed to be on Christmas, we had what we call a ''mini transfer.'' We sent a batch of missionaries home and picked up 4 from the MTC today.  These new missionaries are going to wait in temporary areas until ''real'' transfers on the 27th.  One of them gets to stay with us! We picked her up today! We drove to the mission office in Copenhagen and waited there with other missionaries until President decided who would go where.  The entire process took about 2 houres.  But it was worth it because I love our baby.  Her name is Søster Critchfield.  She loves singing and La La Land, so we're going to get along just fine.  The best part is that I GET TO KEEP HER! President told us that Søster Critchfield will be staying permanently with me here in Hillerød, so I will be training her.  I am so so so excited.  We spent the rest of the day waiting for her luggage (which got lost in Paris) and trying to keep her awake.

Wednesday: We... wish you a merry Christmas we wish you a merry Christmas we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year! We went caroling ALL day!! It was so so so fun! We went with the Elders in our ward and had a blast.  We caroled to some of the Elders' investigators adn got let in a surprising amount of times.  One girl talked to us for 30 minutes! It was really good and people were quite touched.  We mad our way around to a few members, one in particular who LOVED opening her door to singing missionaries.  She loved it so much that she joined us! WE went around to her neighbors and gave them cookies.  People were, again, so surprised to us caroling.  They kept trying to give us stuff, but we insisted that our visit was free.  It felt really good to give the gift of the Christmas Spirit to these people.

Thursday: We had our Christmas Zone Conference and it was the best thing ever.  From 9am to 7pm we were participating in activities, music, eating, training, and feeling.  Up until lunch consisted of normal zone conference things such as slide shows and trainings on how to be better missionaries and such. The theme of the trainings this time around was ''Peace.'' Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace adn as such He brings peace to His people.  His brith brought inner and spiritual peace to to believers of all ages.  It was a beautiful training and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  We also were taught on how to handle the Book of Mormon Musical (which is coming to Copenhagen soon).  Just laugh and smile.  That's how you handle it.  After lunch the Christmas began.  We started out with a beautiful Christmas music program that didn't leave a dry eye in the room.  The music was raw and real.  The testimonies of these missionaries shone through the cracks and allowed for such a strong spirit to be present.  Søster Day and I played very last.  We performed ''O Come O Come Emmanuel'' on flute and piano.  I was uncharacteristically nervous, but it was over before I knew it.  Every single musical number was simply fantastic and filled my heart with joy.  After the music we watched a slideshow of every missionary in the mission with baby and family pictures.  It was so fun! We even ran downstairs and held hands while dancing around the Christmas Tree.  We sang Christmas Carols at the top of our lungs and ran around the tree and then back up the stairs to watch a movie! We got to watch a full fledged real life Disney Movie called MOANA.  I loved every minute of the entire day.

Friday: We took our little baby finding for the first time.  She killed it.  We bought her a hot dog for being so brave.  We also had an appointment with the new convert in the ward, Lasse.  We just went through the plan of salvation again to get it deep into his bones, and it was a great lesson.  Now that he has the Aaronic Priesthood he can do baptisms for the dead in the temple! He is so very excited.  We then drove up to a member's house to have a hyggeligt eating appointment, and then back down to the library for an appointment with our Turkish investigator.  He doesn't speak Danish or English, so we teach him English and slip a few gospel principles in there.  It surprises me how much our faith has in common with Islam.  It's actually quite close.  It got me thinking about other religions and how they are not totally wrong.  A lot of their untruths come from mistranslations and what not, but it just goes to show how important a restoration was.  That way we can be on the same page as God.

Saturday: I love Danish Christmas! I love it so much.  We went over to a family in our ward that night for ''Lille Juleaften,'' or the day before Christmas Eve.  We ate GREAT food and played a super fun present game.  I got a hamonica, a deck of cards, and some gum.  We then danced around the Christams Tree and around the whole house.  It was so so so fun.

Sunday: We just had an hour of church today, but Søster Day and I played for sacrament meeting.  It feels so good to pull my flute out.  I wish I could pull it out more. That night we went up to another member's house for a Danish/Norwegian Christmas.  Here in Denmark, the big Christmas events all take place Christmas Eve.  They eat tons and tons of food, play games, unwrap presents, and eat more food.  It was very fun to celebrate Christmas with good people.

Monday: And Christmas doesn't end!! We got to open all the presents sent to us by our families!!   We went upstairs to eat Christmas Lunch with the family we live with.  It was so fun and hyggeligt, but the best part of my day was skyping my family!! I love them lots :)
Jeg fuldstandig elskede den her uge.  Jeg elsker muligheden jeg har at være missionær her i Danmark.  Det er det bedste ting nogensinde.  Jeg elsker alle jer og vil gerne sige GLÆDE JUL!
