It's The Little Things

September 17, 2018 Danish Word of the Week: Tilskyndelse = prompting Swiss Fun Fact: There is a kind of soda called Rivella that can only be bought in Switzerland. We had a wonderful week.  Going through this week felt normal and quite uneventful, but looking back I can see just how many wonderful things happened that I didn't notice before.  Heavenly Father does bless us, but sometimes we need to step back to really recognize his hand. On monday we ate with this adorable couple.  The husband served his mission in Switzerland, and pulled out a bottle of Rivella that they got last time they visited.  Søster Calame almost cried.  She was so happy to have a little bit of home, and even happier when they let her take home a bottle.  It didn't last more than a few days :) We didn't have the usual tuesday bike problems which was a blessing, but instead our bikes troubled us on friday and saturday.  Søster Calame and I have had 7 flat tires since be...

The Rain Keeps Rolling

September 10, 2018 Danish word of the week: vedvarende means persistent.  that has nothing to do with the rest of my email, but I learned that word this week and I think it's cool. Danish fun fact: health care is free.  oral care is not.   We had a good week here! we had a super fun family home evening with 2 young, married couples in our ward last monday.  it was fun to be around normal, strong, young members of the church and to hear about their own mission stories and experiences.  It was mega hyggeligt.   Tuesday was a great day.  As always, it was accompanied by some bike problems.  However, Aunt Lousia's bike tool came just in time and we are now bike professionals.  We took the back tire off, patched it (again), and put it back together all in 45 minutes.  That is record timing for us here.  We also had an unbelievable lesson with Koo.  We talked about the importance of reading the Book of Mormo...

Everybody Loves Tuesday

September 3, 2018 Danish Word of the Week: Dæk.  It means tire. Danish Fun Fact: Because of the large number of bikers, in bigger cities there tend to be free bike pumps scattered around the city.  Some work, but most don't. Denmark is RAINY.  It has been super rainy for the past few days, but we are not daunted by rain.  We are strong missionaries.  Nothing phases us, except for, perhaps, bike problems.  Our woes are not yet over, because on Tuesday (yet again) we were on our merry way to our favorite contacting spot in the form of DTU campus.  We pulled out of our bike parking lot and low and behold, Sister Calame's back tire is flat.  So we pumped it up with a wimpy bike pump and kept going.  We make it all the way up the great and lengthy hill and are about to turn onto campus when POP.  There goes her front tire.  Luckily, we have tools and patches with us.  We fix the front tire in under 20 minutes.  Just in th...

''I Feel Warm Around My Heart''

August 28, 2018 Danish Word of the Week: Helligånden - the Holy Ghost Danish Fun Fact: It rains in Denmark. I'd forgotten that. Wow we had an absolutely wonderful week.  We had a lot of good and fun things planned, so we were excited to begin another week.  A few of those plans didn't work out because my bike broke, again.  This time we gave up and just bought a new tube.  No more problems since (knock on wood)! BUT my dysfunctional bike did not hold us back from the miracles of God.  We met with our friend with the Waldo socks and boy is he ready for the gospel.  He told us that he wants to know why members of our church are so happy and how he can be so happy. He has been investigating the church for a very long time, but the last time he met with missionaries was more than a year ago.  He says that he wasn't mentally ready then, but he's ready now.  Pray for Waldo.  Koo is also doing super well! He loves coming to church and always...
