MTCthethingsthathappenedthisweek

Here are the happenings of this week:
Last P-Day we found out at lunch that we had to move residence halls ALL THE WAY ACROSS CAMPUS before dinner, and still go to the temple for 3 and a half hours.  So my companions and I packed up all of our stuff in about 30min and just hauled it all to our new (but actually WAY older) residence hall.  I'm convinced that our new hall is haunted by the souls of missionaries in the 50's. Anyway, THAT was a struggle but now we don't have to move again (hopefully).

So I realize that I totally forgot to talk about our "investigators" last week!  Our very first one was named Johan.  He is tall and blond and VERY Danish (turns out that he isn't actually Danish surprise surprise, but his mom is so I was half right).  After we taught him for a week they told us that he moved to California. But moments after that announcement he strides right into our classroom because he is ACTUALLY our new teacher!  His real name is Bror Curtis and he is a great teacher!  He speaks slowly and loudly which is marvelous help for my old ears.  We have 2 new investigators that are also our teachers, but it's a good time.

And yesterday was also a really spiritual day as well!  We had TRC's and it was INCREDIBLE (TRC's are when you get to teach member volunteers that speak Danish!)  The first member we taught was an adorable elderly lady.  She was so sweet and I just felt so much love for her.  Walking into that lesson my companions and I totally forgot what we were going to teach her, so we really had to rely on the Spirit.  Thoughts came into my head and they came out in Danish and it all worked out.  Our second lesson was with an elderly man who also grew up in Denmark.  He was so kind!  They both really encouraged us and told us that we were doing very well with our Danish and our teaching considering that we've only been here 2 weeks (it definitely feels like 2 years though, so it's valuable to remember that I'm actually doing okay).  I almost cried bearing my testimony of God's love because the Spirit was so strong and powerful during the whole experience.  I later learned that the two members we taught are MARRIED and I just about died with happiness.  That put me on a great spiritual high that I hope will last until Sunday.  SPEAKING OF SUNDAY I get to play my flute in sacrament meeting!  There is a Finnish serving Sister who was a piano performance major at BYU so we're going to play For the Beauty of the Earth (I'll choose a new song later, but that one is just too good) and I honestly can't be more excited.

Kirken er sand, Gud besvarer bøner, og Jesus Kristus kender og elsker I.

Love,

Søster Esplin
