Aalborg Adventures Episode 2: Miracles & Marvels

February 12

AHOY DEAREST FAMILY!! How are you all doing??

Danish Word of the Week: Speciallægepraksisplanlægningsstabiliseringsperiode. That means - Period of plan stabilising for a specialist doctor's practice

Danish Fun Fact: Fastelavn was yesterday and is basically Denmark's version of Halloween.  There are some wonderfully tasting pastries sold around this time of year called Fastelavnsboller and let me tell you, they are heavenly.  Pictures to come.

This week was quite incredible. After travelling for 5+ hours to get to Aalborg, we had to make the trek back to Copenhagen on Thursday, and then AGAIN on Friday for a mission leadership conference at President's house.  It was super fun! We played ping pong, ate some delicious food, and had some good trainings.  It was a swell time that almost was worth the 10+ hours of travelling we did for it.  Almost ;)

In other news, I finally got to meet some of our investigators.  In particular a man named Lasse.  Søster Dietch found him by waking him up on the bus and just chatting with him.  Flash forward a few days, and he came to church.  He's now come pretty consistently for about 2 months and loves it.  He showed up to his first lesson having read the entire book of 1 Nephi when he was only supposed to read the introduction. In our lesson with him this past week, he decided he wants to get baptized and set a date of March 3rd!! We were beyond excited and so was he.  He is such a cool guy.  That was one of our many miracles this week.

Another miracle happened yesterday.  Søster Dietch and I were so utterly tired after coming home from a dinner appointment.  We had half and hour before we were supposed to be in for the night and hadn't found a single investigator that week.  It was pouring rain and pitch black, but we bundled up and headed out.  We prayed for a miracle. We prayed for someone to listen to our message and want to learn more.  We talked to quite a few people with no luck.  Before heading back inside we decided to talk to one last person.  He was on his way to the grocery store, so we walked and talked.  After a good long conversation he said that he would love to meet up to hear more about God's plan! I'm so grateful for the little marvels that Heavenly Father puts in our path.

I would like to share a little golden nugget I found in my personal study this week.  Alma 5:14 says, ''And now behold, I ask of you, my brethren of the church, have ye spiritually been born of God? Have ye received his image in your countenances? Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts?'' I've been thinking and pondering what it means to receive the image of Christ in my countenances.  While I haven't come to a definite conclusion (further thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated), I have decided that it at least partly means that when people look into your eyes, they see Christ staring back out.  There are a handful of people I can think of right now that have this.  When I see them, I see Christ reflected.  So that is one of my mission goals; to receive the image of Christ in my countenance.

Jeg elsker jer og er evig taknemmelig for jeres bønner! Jeg håber at I få en fantastisk uge!
