Aalborg Adventures Episode 3: Back Home to Hammerum

February 19

Heyo heyo dearest family!

Danish Phrase of the Week: ''Hvad for en fisk?'' Literally translates to ''what for a fish'' but means ''what did you say?''

Danish Fun Fact: Handball and Fodbold are the two most popular sports in Denmark.

Well this week was quite exciting.

On Monday we received a text from our investigator on baptismal date saying that he no longer wished to be baptized.  We later found out is was because he looked up Mormons on the internet and found some things about Joseph Smith and temples and got freaked. We tried to reason with him, but he's going to need a little time to think about his feelings and his life.  So little pause with him.  That kinda shot our Monday, but we got pastries so that made it slightly better.  We also had a fun family home evening with a cute lady in our ward.  We sang songs and ate rolls.

Tuesday brought ZONE CONFERENCE!! We had a fabulous training on the Book of Mormon and how we can use it more in our work.  One thing that was encourage was to become a Book of Mormon scholar.  I feel like I know my scriptures pretty well, or at least better than I did pre-mish, but I am by utterly no means a Book of Mormon scholar.  So I found some things that I want to change about the way I study and apply the Book of Mormon.  We were encouraged to read President Nelson's talk from last conference about the Book of Mormon and that is one of my goals this week.  It was also very fun to see a lot of missionaries that I hadn't seen in a long time! These people are great.

Also, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! We honestly slightly forgot it was Valentines Day until an quick dinner with one of the members.  She bought us flowers and told us that she was our Danish Valentine.  Way cute.

Thursday and Friday brought my first splits as STL!! We went down to my old stomping ground of Hammerum and it was so so so fun!! I felt like I was going home, but at the same time I felt as though I'd never left. It was also so fun to be with the killer Sister Trio in Hammerum.  Søster Thorpe, Søster Whittier. and Søster Dorman are incredible.  We had a nice juicy finding block ahead of us and they made it so fun! We were laughing and singing and talking to tons of people. Combined we found 4 investigators! I love those sisters and I love that area.  We ended a marvelous time with some marvelous pastries.  Of course.

On Saturday we did some service for a member family and it was a grand old time.  We cut trees and ate sandwiches.  That day was also my first day of biking! My bike has been in the shop for 2 weeks, but we got it back and hit the road.  I am still in pain.  Everything hurts.  But it is super fun so all is good!!

And yesterday our investigator came to church AND made a new baptismal date! We are so excited for her and she had a great time at church.  That was the first time I'd met her, and she is just the most adorable thing ever.  We also had a stellar lunch with a Vietnamese lady that I am still stuffed from. Good times, good times.

One really cool thing that I have learned this week surrounds hope.  I didn't think that I was necessarily a hopeless person, but recently I've found all the tight corners that I need a brightness of hope to fill.  Hope and faith are quite similar, but also very very different.  Ether 12:32 says, ''And I also remember that thou hast said that thou hast prepared a house for man, yea, even among the mansions of thy Father, in which man might have a more excellent hope; wherefore man must hope, or he cannot receive an inheritance in the place which thou hast prepared.'' Hope is an essential part of eternal life.  One must have faith, but one must also hope.  Hope for a better world, hope for a better life, and hope for a brighter future.  No matter what we're going through, not matter what we've done, there is also hope.  I definitely needed that reminder this week.

Jeg elsker jer alle sammen og håber at I glemme ikke at have håb i jeres liv.  Hav en rigtig god uge!! Hej Hej!
