Aalborg Adventures Episode 6: Preparations & Parties

March 12, 2018

Hello Hello Hello!! It was wonderful to hear from you all this week!  Thanks for all of the pictures and emails! I love hearing what's up in P Town.

Danish Word of the Week: Rumvæsen.  It means alien.

Danish Fun Fact: Easter in Denmark is celebrated by much alcohol.  More Easter facts to come.

This week was a fabulous one!

We got to go down to Horsens for splits on Tuesday and Wednesday which was an absolute BLAST.  I was with my dearest darlingest Søster Day and we had such a marvelous time. We walked in a dark and foggy cemetery, talked to everyone from 80 yr old Danes to 18 yr old Romanians, and ate a huge chocolate pastry.  Horsens is the cutest town and I was in utter shock when we walked up to the sisters' apartment complex CASTLE.  THEY LIVE IN A CASTLE. My jaw dropped all the way to China.  Needless to say, I felt like a Princess throughout the whole day.

We also had a super fun eating appointment with some members in our ward.  I walk into the dining room to see 3 very large snakes and 1 bearded dragon (shoutout to Zeus).  I stood petrified for a good 30 seconds before 2 adorable puppies came running up to me, dispelling all my worries.  Puppy therapy is real.

On Friday and Saturday we had the Viborg sisters back up here on splits! I went with Søster Partner who is a complete STUD.  We had an appointment with our investigator (who is getting baptized on SATURDAY) which was incredible.  We taught her the Law of Chastity and she readily agreed to keep it.  We bussed with our investigator back home and Søster Partner was a champ when we came back later than expected for dinner.  We had an appointment with the same investigator the next day where she tried on a baptismal dress.  She walked into the room absolutely glowing to show off her beautiful dress.  It made my heart so happy to see her so happy.  During splits I realized that my only job for 18 months is to love with all of my heart.  If I can do that, I can help bring more people unto a knowledge of their Savior.

This week I did a lot of studying on how one gains and maintains a testimony.  One thing that really struck out to me was the example of Alma the Younger.  He had seen an angel, He had seen God sitting on His throne, and yet he still needed to gain a testimony the same way everyone else does.  In Alma 5: 45-46 he says, ''And this is not all. Do ye not suppose that I know of these things myself? Behold, I testify unto you that I do know that these things whereof I have spoken are true. And how do ye suppose that I know of their surety?  Behold, I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God. Behold, I have fasted and prayed many days that I might know these things of myself. And now I do know of myself that they are true; for the Lord God hath made them manifest unto me by his Holy Spirit; and this is the spirit of revelation which is in me.'' Faith is strengthened by works, not by signs.  Even Alma needed to fast and pray to grow and nurture his testimony. That was a really eye-opening and needed lesson for me to learn this week.

Tusind tak til alle jer! Tak for jeres bønner og emails! Jeg elsker jer alle sammen og vil gerne at I have en rigtig god uge! Hej Hej!
