Lyngby is Quite Lovely, You Know.

HALLOOOOO!!

Danish Word of the Week: Gaffel, which means fork.

Danish Fun Fact:  The sun rises at 4:25am and sets at 9:57pm. I never see darkness and it is wonderful.

So let me tell you a little about my new area.  I serve in a city called Lyngby (pronounced Loo- as is the British way of saying toilet- ng - that last sound in ''ring'' - boo - what a ghost says. Loo-ng-boo). I love Lyngby.  It's in Greater Copenhagen and let me tell you: the language I spoke in Jylland is not the Danish they speak in Copenhagen.  So that has been fun getting used to.  And due to some lack of apartment craziness it's just us sisters in our ward.  The ward building is used by 2 wards and the other ward lost their missionary apartments so the elders in our ward switched to the other ward.  So we run the entire party here in the Gladsaxe 2 ward. It is a great area.  I'm really happy to be here.

I've had the chance to meet a few investigators and a few members already! We first stopped by a less-active named Lene.  I love Lene.  She was baptized quite a few years ago but due to a battle with Schizophrenia has since stopped coming to church.  She just recently decided to get back in touch with her Savior so the missionaries started coming over and helping her gain a stronger understanding of the gospel. She plays the guitar and let me play it for a quick few seconds which made me happy.

We also visited a new convert with the Elders named Savanna.  She is super funny and has an awesome bunny.  She really really loves Christ and is very grateful for the gift of the Spirit in her life.  We are going to be great friends.

Saturday was a day of miracles.  Our day began with an appointment with Kim, an investigator.  Kim is quite literally the happiest person I have ever met. He loves Christ so much. We talked to him about Priesthood authority and faith, repentance, baptism. He said, ''so does this mean that I have to get baptized again?'' We simply responded, ''yeah!'' And he said, ''okay. I can do that.'' So he is now working a baptismal date of July 21st! That was a miracle already. Later that day, we met with a new investigator named Alex who we met on our first day together.  Not only was it a miracle that he showed up, but it was a miracle that he was so open! We talked about the restoration and why we have the Book of Mormon, invited him to read and pray, and he was so willing to try.  I'm excited to see how he progresses! Lastly, a third miracle.  We didn't have a whole ton of time to contact that night, but we asked a university student if he knew where the nearest grocery store was.  Not only did he walk us there, but he took of Book of Mormon with the promise to read and meet.  Lyngby has luscious miracles.

One great lesson I learned this week is the importance of the little things.  In the Book of Helaman, we learn that the Lamanites actually become more righteous than the Nephites.  Why is this? Because the Nephites let the little things slip through the cracks.  They stopped giving money to the poor, they developed causalness in church callings, they probably became lazy with scripture reading and all of this lead to pride in their hearts and a separation between them and the Spirit.  I've noticed how easy casualness is, even on a mission.  Satan's traps are expertly crafted and thus easy to fall into.  But God has promised us the strength to resist if we but do what He says.  Casualness never was happiness.  So I'm going to find ways in my missionary work and life that I can improve and tidy up those little things, because litte things really do matter.  Take it from me :)

Tak for bønnerne og støtten I giver til mig.  Jeg er mega taknemmelig for alt det hvad I gør for missionærarbejdet. Tak og ha' en god uge!
